今回はゲオルク・クリストフ・ヴァーゲンザイルという作曲家についてちょっとお話ししたいと思います。
ヴァーゲンザイルは前に紹介したフックスの弟子のひとりで、ウィーンに生まれ、ウィーンで過ごし、ウィーンに没した生粋のウィーンっ子でした。
現在ではあまり演奏される機会はないものの、ハイドンやモーツァルトも親しんだとされるバロック時代から前古典派時代に至る過渡期に活躍した作曲家です。
こうして紹介できる、と言うことは録音もありますので、モーツァルトと言った超有名作曲家も親しんだとされる音楽を一度聴いてみてはいかがでしょうか？

Today, I’d like to talk a bit about a composer named Georg Christoph Wagenseil.
Wagenseil was one of the students of Fux, whom I introduced earlier. He was a true Viennese through and through—born in Vienna, living his entire life there, and passing away in Vienna.
Although his works aren’t performed very often these days, he was a composer active during the transitional period from the Baroque era to the Pre-Classical era—a time when Haydn and Mozart are said to have been familiar with his music.
