概要

Believing someone without checking, just because they wear a white coat — that isn't your fault. It's an automatic switch in every human heart.

Good day, I am the Goddess Athena. Today I unpack the "authority principle" from psychology and behavioral economics — why we follow titles, the three outward signs of authority, and two simple questions that keep you from being fooled, plus how to build real trust — all in the simplest words. No jargon, I promise.

▼ Who this is for
・Anyone who feels reassured by titles, white coats, or fancy offices
・People worried about calls or emails claiming to be from a bank or city office

▼ What this video covers
The authority principle is the habit of trusting outward signs — a title, clothes, belongings — and thinking "this person must be right" without checking what's inside. Usually it's a handy shortcut, but signs can be bought. In Milgram's famous 1960s obedience study, about two in three participants followed a researcher-like figure's instructions to the very end. But when the authority wasn't in the room, far fewer obeyed, and when one person refused first, many others could refuse too.

The three signs: titles (in one study, a title even made a man seem taller), clothing (a guard-like uniform got far more people to comply), and belongings (drivers hesitated to honk at a luxury car stuck at a green light).

Two questions against being fooled: "Does this person really know about this topic?" and "If I trust them, will they get money or a benefit?" If someone calls claiming to be your bank or city office, hang up and call a number you looked up yourself. And to build real trust: share your real experience lightly and early, and honestly say what you don't know. Your daily care and records are a foundation of trust no white coat can fake.
