こんぐー。クラシックのよさを少しでも知ってもらいたいと思ってこうした動画を投稿している腹ペコ小悪魔Vtuberのアシュレイです。
今回はヨハン・ヨーゼフ・フックスという作曲家についてちょっとお話ししたいと思います。
フックスはバロック後期の作曲家で、オルガニストとして活動した後、歴代のウィーン国王に寵愛されてその庇護の元、活躍した作曲家です。
音楽理論家としても「グラドゥス・パド・アルナッスム」という著作を著したり、現在でもピアノ小品がピアノの教則本に載っているなど、ピアニストには馴染みのある作曲家です。
ですが見直されたきっかけがモーツァルト研究の副産物、と言うのがちょっと残念ですよね。
作品が評価されて広まったならともかく、他の作曲家の研究のおまけで名前が知られるようになったんですから。

Today, I’d like to talk a bit about a composer named Johann Joseph Fux.
Fux was a composer of the late Baroque period. After working as an organist, he gained the favor of successive kings of Vienna and went on to enjoy a successful career under their patronage.
He’s also a familiar name to pianists—he authored the music theory treatise *Gradus Padus Arnassum*, and his piano pieces are still included in piano method books today.
However, it’s a bit of a shame that the reason he’s been rediscovered is a byproduct of research on Mozart.
It would have been one thing if his works had been appreciated and gained popularity on their own merits, but his name actually became known as a bonus from research on another composer.)
